Here's where you can organize your European House of Representatives

1. Get to know the topic

Find out about the current topic for the session and download the provided materials. There you'll find discussion questions and background information.

2. Invite participants

Invite 2 to 7 people from your circle of friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers. Your European House Parliament can take place in person or online. 

3. Hold a discussion

Meet for about 90 minutes and discuss the three guiding questions together. All participants should be able to share their perspectives and be open to different opinions.

4. Record the results

After each question, summarize the group's main ideas and viewpoints.

To wrap up, ask who would like to be kept informed about future HausParlamente events, and share the link to the registration form during the session so that participants can sign up. The registration form helps build a pool of participants and facilitates networking later on.

5. Submit Results

Then submit the results using the online form directly on the website. The entries from all European House Parliaments will be compiled and included in the overall evaluation for this round.

With a little preparation, you can make sure everyone has a chance to speak and that the discussion is engaging and respectful.

Preparation
Familiarize yourself with the discussion questions and the guide beforehand. No specialized knowledge is required. At the beginning, briefly explain how the discussion will proceed. It’s also a good idea to read aloud the questions, background information, and the pros and cons.

Getting Started
After a brief round of introductions, a short icebreaker question helps break the ice and gets the conversation flowing. For example:

• What do you appreciate most about Europe?
• What needs to improve in Europe?
• Is this your first House of Representatives session?

Rules for Conversations

• Everyone should have a chance to speak.
• We welcome different opinions.
• We let each other finish speaking and treat each other with respect.

Time and Focus
Make sure the discussion stays on topic and that there is enough time for all questions and the final vote.

Summary
Briefly summarize the main arguments at the end of each question. This will make it easier to submit the results later.

During the session, share the link to the participant registration form, and at the end, ask who would like to continue participating in House Parliaments or be notified about future sessions.

Moderate neutrally
As a moderator, you guide the conversation without dominating it. It’s best to share your own opinion only after the others have expressed their views.

Select the appropriate format

You decide for yourself how you want to organize your HausParlament. Whether in person, via video conference, or through existing groups on WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, or other platforms—all formats are welcome.

The only important thing is that all participants have the opportunity to discuss the discussion questions together.

If you don't yet have a way to host an online meeting, you can use Jitsi Meet. Jitsi is a free and privacy-friendly video conferencing platform. No installation or registration is required to participate. The discussion can take place directly in your browser.

Create a meeting and invite participants using Jitsi:

1. Visit Jitsi Meet.
2. Shortly before the HausParlament begins, enter a name for your meeting and use it to create a meeting link.
3. Share the link with your participants via email, text message, WhatsApp, Signal, or another channel.
4. Participants can join the meeting directly via the link—no account, no registration, and no installation required.
